Barfi is een stevig snoepje op basis van melk uit het Indiase subcontinent, en een soort mithai. De naam komt van het Hindoestaanse (oorspronkelijk Perzische) woord barf, wat sneeuw betekent. Veel voorkomende soorten barfi zijn besan barfi (gemaakt met grammeel), kaju barfi (gemaakt met cashewnoten), pista barfi (gemaakt met gemalen pistachenoten) en sing barfi (gemaakt met pinda’s). Melkpoeder en suiker zijn de hoofdingredi\u00ebnten van barfi. De ingredi\u00ebnten worden in een vat gekookt totdat het mengsel stolt. Het mengsel wordt vervolgens overgebracht naar een ondiepe pan en afgekoeld.
